  • Assign one student to be the boss and have them call another student to ask for the sum of the numbers 1 through 5.
  • The student that was just called calls another student to sum numbers 1 through 4.
  • This continues on until they reach the base case.
  • Once the base case is reached, each student relays the sum back up through the chain until they get to the boss, who can now calculate the full sum.
