  • Group work is most beneficial to all students when the right number of students are involved.
    • If a project only needs 2 students, don’t assign 3 to do it.
  • Group work also benefits from assigning students procedural roles, like recorder (responsible for ensuring all students take notes), supplies manager, etc.
  • Create an open and positive community atmosphere through ice breakers, which can help ease the tension of group work.
  • Emphasize that teamwork is an inherent part of the STEM field.
    • This makes learning how to work in a group and enjoy themselves extremely important.
