Use the think-pair-share method of brainstorming to help students get the most out of class discussions.

  • The think-pair-share method involves 3 stages:
    1. Think: Give students the prompt to think about it on their own.
    2. Pair: Have students discuss their ideas in pairs.
    3. Share: Discuss the topic as a whole class.
  • Some students don’t like to share immediately and prefer to have time to think about a topic alone first.
    • Using this method will increase contributions from these students as they have time to work through their ideas before talking to the whole class.
