Respond to a question with questions so students get a chance to keep thinking about it.

  • If students ask if they’re doing something correctly, have them go back to the problem.
  • Try asking:
    • What was the question you were trying to answer?
    • What steps have you taken to get here?
    • What’s the goal of the project/problem?
  • This will drive some students crazy but it is important not to give away the answers instantly to encourage critical thinking.
