Ask students if the games they are designing are games they’d want to buy to keep students making progress toward your learning goals for them.

  • Students may get distracted building games that are too hard to beat, which doesn’t help them learn about game design in a very meaningful way.
  • Encourage students to build a game that has “just the right challenge.”
  • Ask students questions like:
    • What if a game is too easy?
    • What if a game is too hard?
    • Would you want to buy a game in the store you could never win?
